THE CAFFEINATED CONNECTION

THE BOOK CLUB THAT GATHERS VIRTUALLY

The Caffeinated Connection, the monthly book club that meets weekly, virtually!

Unlike most book clubs, we meet weekly + virtually, while reading and discussing the book with the author and sharing our own personal stories of identity.

Kate Strauss never thought she'd grow up to be a writer. Perhaps acting, mom-hood, CEO, maybe even a vet, but not a writer. It just wasn't a skill Strauss was "good at".

Somehow, poetry found her and she couldn't survive without it. Yes, it sounds cheesy, I know, but she told me to put that in here...who am I kidding, this is Kate writing this in 3rd person about myself and it's true; poetry has changed her life. Since coming out as a poet, she has published her first poetry book, DASH Y, and is soon publishing a second. I Put Pants On for This is a collection of heartfelt, colorful essays about growing up, because that sh*t is hard to do. Now in her early thirties, writer Lydia Mack explores the residual nostalgia of her childhood spent between the wealthy suburbs of Washington D.C. and Bangkok, Thailand, while grappling with what to hang on to and what to leave behind from the mess that was life after. Using her wit and curiosity, she takes readers on a journey through life's less-than-perfect moments and their lasting impact.  Instagram @chaindsass or online at www.lydiamack.com/

Austin’s New York Times’ Bestseller has taken her across the country speaking to universities, mass audiences, churches, and businesses. By facing head-on the systemic ways our world was built for whiteness, Austin’s every word unapologetically yet winsomely kicks down the door and brings the Black American experience into center stage.
